Hi, I’m Shehla—founder of Kitchenisy, mom of two, late-bloomer cook, and apron reformer.

I didn’t grow up loving cooking. In fact, it wasn’t until my late 30s—when I signed up for a cooking class on a whim—that something clicked. I found joy in the kitchen. The rhythm of it. The calm. The creativity. And, to my surprise, I was good at it. Friends and family started coming to me for recipes and tips, so I began sharing on Instagram—and from that little spark, Kitchenisy was born.

But first, there was a problem.
The more I cooked, the more I realized how uncomfortable aprons really are. That neck strap? Always digging in. The waist ties? Restrictive and fussy—and they made me feel overheated. One day during the COVID lockdown, I grabbed an old apron and cut off the straps, reattaching them in a crossback design that fit my body comfortably. I wore it every day—and I couldn’t go back.

My mom loved it too. Then my friends. Soon I was making them for other women, tweaking the fit, adding thoughtful details—like a hand towel loop at the hip, an extra pocket for reading glasses, and adjustable slider buckles that made it easy for any body type to feel amazing in the kitchen.

That’s how Kitchenisy came to life.
